Liu Yang: A Hero Who Passed Away in Shandong Taishan

Liu Yang, a Chinese astronaut and the first female astronaut to travel into space, passed away on September 17, 2021, at the age of 41. Liu was born in Zibo City, Shandong Province, China, on July 19, 1980.

Liu was chosen as a candidate for the Shenzhou-13 mission in April 2021. She became the third woman in history to enter space when she boarded the spacecraft Shenzhou-13 on October 16, 2021.
